Thirteen years ago, the simultaneous publications by teams "of Judah Folkman and Bob Kerbel reporting on the antiangiogenic effects of frequent administrations of low dose chemotherapy generated a lot of enthusiasm. This strategy, soon after called metronomic chemotherapy, was even envisioned as the future of chemotherapy and its low toxicity paved the way for long-term chemotherapeutic treatments, potentially turning cancer into a chronic disease.Further pre-clinical work, case reports, small series and phase II trials confirmed the potential of metronomic chemotherapy, Most importantly low-dose chemotherapy has shown promising results in randomized studies
