Integrated Farming in Coconut Holdings for Productivity Improvement-a Programme which led to Cluster Approach in Coconut Sector

摘要

The programme for "Integrated farming in coconut holdings in Kerala for productivity improvement" had its beginning in an area of 10,000 ha during 1987-88 which was the third year of the VII Plan Period. The technical content of the programme was to cut and remove the disease affected, senile and unproductive coconut palms at an average rate of 2.8 percentage of the palm population, and replant with genetically superior planting material preferably hybrids, promotion of irrigation facilities, multi species cropping system and extending technical support including institutional credit to the farmers for adopting different enterprises.
