At the very outset, let me pay my rich tributes to Late Dr. H.L. Roy, the Founder President of the IIChE for his leadership and vision of uniting the chemical engineering fraternity in India into a motivating professional force to serve the society at large. I am privileged to deliver this lecture in memory of this great soul and also to be part of his legacy. I was also fortunate to be the President of the Institute in 2001 and could imagine what hardships Dr. Roy would have faced to build and nurture the fledgling organisation.
