Revising Curricula in Chemical Engineering Education in India:A Few Suggestions

All professions have scope for expansion,which must be utilised to avoid extinction.Expansion requires modification in training imparted to its young practitioners.This paper examines whether curricula in chemical engineering in India needs to change or not.Our answer being yes,we suggest where and what changes are to be made.This paper is based on talks given at Chemcon04 and at the symposium "Chemical Engineering:the Journey Ahead" held at IISc,Bangalore in 2005.A link to the latter can be found at http:// chemeng.iisc.ernet.in/tja/html/home,html
