Agriculture is not only about food, it's about life. It is unfortunate that in developing countries, the people who produce the food are the poorest and the hungriest. They are forever at the mercy of middlemen and policy-makers. Dominance of small/ marginal farmers, fragmented supply chains, absence of scale of economies, low level of processing/ value addition and inadequacy of marketing infrastructure are some of the persisting concerns of a developing nation like India.
