Copper (II) Complexes with Some Semicarbazones; Possible Biomimetic Models

Copper (II) complexes of some semicarbazones viz., 2-hydroxyacetophenone and 2-hydroxynaphthaldehyde have been prepared and characterised by elemental analysis, magnetic moment, IR, electronic and ESR spectral studies. All the complexes were found to have the composition Cu(ligand)X (X = Cl#x2212;, Br#x2212;, NO#x2212;3, ClO#x2212;4and CH3COO#x2212;). Both of the ligands behave as tridentate ligands. All of the complexes may have square planar geometry.
