Dipolehyphen;Dipole Interaction in Simple Lattices

摘要

A mathematical model, the spherical model, of electric dipolehyphen;dipole interaction in simple lattices is discussed. The partition function for the system, assuming just nearest neighbor interaction, is evaluated for onehyphen; and threehyphen;dimensional simple lattices. Only the threehyphen;dimensional lattice exhibits a phase transition. The transition is discussed. The transition behavior in the presence of an external field is also analyzed, and the electric susceptibility is computed.
