Repeated rectal methohexitone as the sole anaesthetic agent for radiotherapy

SummaryA 2‐year‐old boy underwent 22 consecutive anaesthetics with rectal methohexitone for radiation of a recurrent craniopharyngioma. In 21 instances rectal methohexitone, as the sole agent provided adequate anaesthesia, while on one occasion, due to early defaecation of methohexitone, anaesthesia had to be supplemented with ketamine intravenously. Onset time of rectal methohexitone was between 3 and 9 min, duration varied between 30 and 180 min. No complications were obser
