CEMENT DEALER'S MARGINS INTACT DESPITE PRICE DIP

Rising input costs and sluggish demand may be giving cement manufacturers in India sleepless rights. But for cement dealers, it's business as usual as the margins they earn on the retail sales have not been impacted so far. However, dark clouds are not far away even for the cement dealers, as the margins may soon get eroded, as demand for cement across important sectors like real estate developers slows down. While the price at which dealers get cement from the manufacturers remains fixed, the price at which they sell it to builders, contractors and individuals is left to the discretion of dealers. Typically, cement deaiers have a margin of around 8-10 percent on the retail price sold to end-consumers.
