摘要

There is a growing need for sound database and information system to support different phases of natural resources management such as planning coordination response mitigation including training and exercise . The Maharashtra State frequently faces natural calamities such as drought, floods and recently added earthquake, besides the locale-specific hazards of industrial emissions and pollutants, epidemics, fires, hailstorms, Occidents, etc. The drought continues to remain to be a major factor of uncertainty and affects vast areas. The hazards disasters which occur often, though confronted and managed, lack proper planning, organization and implementation strategy. Such situations can certainly be improved if cause and effect relationships are analyzed and understood properly for Bearing up the administration and the infrastructure for drawing appropriate action plan. This calls for a critical evaluation of the existing situation in terms of the natural resources status and its spatial distributionin relation to socio-economic conditions.
