In a field experiment, 9 wheat and 3 barley varieties were grown on Typic Haiaquepts of Agricultural Research Station, G.A.U. Danti in RBD with 3 replications during rabi 1998-99. Plant samples were collected at crown root initiation (CRI); boot leaf(BL) and harvesting (grain and straw) stages and nutrient uptake as well as ionic rations were computed. The results indicated tremendous varietal variations with respect to grain and straw yields, nutrient uptake and ionic ratios. Negative correlation of Na/K, Na/Ca, Na/P and N/Na was observed with grain yield, but it was positive with straw yield. The N/S ratio at BL stage had shown significant positive association with grain yield and negative relationship with yield. The P/S and P/Zn ration at BL stages showed negative relationship with straw yield.
