Search of a Suitable Model for Ethyl Acetate Reactive Distillation System

In this work,a systematic search for a model of ethyl acetate reactive distillation column is presented.A pseudo-unsteady state model is developed and validated with the results available in the open literature.Different thermodynamic models are examined to account for non-idealities in liquid and vapour phases.The simulated results demonstrate excellent agreement with the available published results.It is observed that both NRTL and Wilson thermodynamics models are equally efficient to account for non-ideality in liquid phase.The simulation results have shown that phase equilibrium model is sufficient to predict the ethyl acetate reactive distillation behaviour.
