Two new methods of preparing a carotene-protein complex from chloroplasts were described, in addition to the one previously reported by the present authors.Light-scattering measurements were performed and from the dissymmetry ratio of the scattering, the particle size of the complex was calculated. The mean radius corresponding to the weightaverage particle weight was found to be 56mμ. This result was discussed with reference to the previously reported values obtained from sedimentation measurements and electron micrographic determinations. The depolarization of scattered light was measured. Large values obtained for the degree of depolarization of the incident light revealed a high degree of anisotropy in the particle of the carotene-protein complex
