Diversification brings dividendsto farmers

Dr N K Krishana Kumar, DDG (Horticulture), ICAR, New Delhi, inaugurated the seminar on "Baby Corn, Sweet Corn and Mushroom Production and their Processing" organized by the National Institute of Food Technology Entrepreneurship and Management, Kundali, Haryana, on 1 March 2014. The farmers of nearby villages who are mainly the producers of baby corn, sweet corn, mushroom and other vegetables; students and Faculty of NIFTEM got a first hand opportunity to hear the lectures of the Scientists of the Directorate of Mushroom Research, Solan (H.P.); Directorate of Maize Research, Ludhiana (Punjab) and ICAR. Various topics related to the production, protection, processing and marketing strategies of baby com, sweet corn, mushroom and other vegetables grown were covered by the experts. Also the questions and the difficulties faced by the producers of the area were answered.
