Professional Development of School Foodservice and Nutrition PersonnelASFSA Certification and Credentialing Programs

The American School Food Service Association (ASFSA) recognizes the importance of professional development for school foodservice and nutrition personnel to achieve its mission of improving the nutritional status of America's youth. The Association offers two distinctly different avenues of professional growth and recognition for two distinctly different groups of child nutrition professionals. The certification program, designed for staff at managerial level and below, requires specialized training and ongoing continuing education. The newly created credentialing program, designed for high level school foodservice professionals, awards the credential of School Foodservice and Nutrition Specialist (SFNS) through meeting academic requirements and successfully passing a standardized national examination.
