摘要

Energy contributes to more than 60% of Variable Cost of cement production. Major energy consumption is during Pyro-processing. Energy consumption for dry process, is in the range of 700 - 750 Kcal / kg and can be as high as 1500 Kcal / kg for wet process kilns. Indian cement producers are in the look out for alternative to coal, which is conventionally used as fuel for pyro-processing in India. In recent times Pet Coke has gained some ground in India as an alternative to coal and there are some plants where Pet Coke is used to the level of almost 100%. in majority of the advanced countries, cement kilns are virtually used as incinerator and waste materials, like tyre, sewage sludge, animal - meal, refuse derived fuel (RDF) etc., are burnt in the kiln as fuel. In Europe, 15-60% of such materials, usually termed as Alternate Fuel (AF), is used in the cement industry. India is likely to catch up with this trend to meet the rising cost of conventional fuel like coal.
