AbstractBased on the polymerization data presented in part I of this series, a kinetic mechanism for the polymerization of butadiene in toluene initiated with nickel(II) stearate–diethyl aluminum chloride was proposed. Expressions for the conversion, the degree of polymerization, and the cis content were derived. Those models were then used to correlate the experimental data from which the rate constants were estimated. A quantitative discussion of various aspects of the polymerization is also presente
