Usually this starts small in size as 'bumps' under the skin in a ring formation. The ring then slowly grows to 2.5-5 cm diameter, changing shape and sometimes position over time, and becoming flatter before gradually fading away.Localised granuloma annulare tends to affect children and young adults, although it can affect people of all ages. It tends to occur over bony prominences, particularly over the knuckles in the hand, but also over elbows or ankles. There are usually no symptoms, but patients may report that the lesions are tender when knocked.
