North American October crude steel output up

North American crude steel output increased by 9.3pc in Octo- ber from a year earlier on the back of higher US production.Total North American production increased to 9.8mn t in October from 8.9mn t a year earlier, according to the World Steel Association. US output increased by 12pc to 7mn t from 6.2mn t during the prior-year period. Production in Canada jumped by 13.4pc to 1.1mn t from 957,000t in October, while Mexican output fell by 2.6pc to 1.7mn t during the same period.
