This study was conducted to determine the effect of adding fibrolytic enzyme mixture at 1.5 g (3365+6085 I.U. of cellulase + xylanase)/kg DM of feed on nutrient digestion and milk production. 12 Sahiwal cows were allotted to two dietary treatments on the basis of body weight (336.17 and 340.45 kg), milk yield (8.43 and 8.53 kg/d) and stage of lactation (67 and 66.83 days post partum). The first group that served as control was fed concentrate mixture, urea treated wheat straw (60:40) and 5 kg green berseem fodder, whereas cows in experimental group were supplemented with enzyme mixture at 1.5 g (3365 Cellulase + 6085 I.U. Xylanase)/kg DM in addition to control ration. Results revealed that fibrolytic enzyme mixture had no effect on the DMI, CPI and TDNI per kg milk and FCM yield. An improvement of (P<0.01) 5.60, 5.30, 6.74, 6.89, 14.88 and 8.53% in DM, OM, NFE, NDF, ADF and Cellulose digestibility, respectively, was observed in experimental group when compared with control group. Mean TDN intake as kg/d was higher (P<0.01) by 10.27% in experimental group than that of control group. Milk yield in 12 week lactation trial was higher (p<0.01) by 9.98% and FCM (4% fat) was higher (p<0.01) by 12.80% in experimental group than the control. There was no effect on DM intake, CP intake, body weight changes and milk composition in cows due to enzyme supplementation. It is concluded that supplementation of Cellulase and Xylanase mixture (50:50) at 1.5 g/kg DM of a ration containing 60% urea treated wheat straw and 40% concentrate to Sahiwal cows significantly improve milk yield, FCM yield due to increased digestibility of DM, OM, NFE, NDF, ADF and cellulose and higher TDN intake.
