Isolation and identification of gram negative lipase producing psychrotophic bacteria from some dairy products

Of the 82 lipolytic psychrotrophic bacterial culture isolates from different dairy products at Experimental Dairy, Himachal Pradesh Agricultural University, Palampur, India, 70 were found to be Gram negative rods. Five genras of Gram negative isolates were identified as Pseudomonas; Flavobacterium, Alcaligenes, Acinetobacter and Aeromonas. Pseudomonas spp. were the most predominant contaminants. Pseudomonas sp. M68-4 produces maximum lipase.
