Changes in Blood Lead Levels of Solderers following the Introduction of The Control of Lead at Work Regulations (1980)

The introduction of the Control of Lead at Work Regulations (1980) recognized that soldering operations were liable to produce nonsignificant exposure to lead. This was confirmed by measurements of lead in air and a ban on smoking, eating and drinking at the workplace introduced. Blood lead levels were measured before and after the change of work practice and a significant fall in the mean blood lead levels of the study group working in a soldering area was demonstrated.
