Pot experiment was conducted in randomized block design based on three replications to investigate the effectiveness of combined judicious application of organic amendments and inorganic fertilizers on yield and nutrient uptake by rice. Humic acid (HA) and Farmyard manure (FYM) were applied to the soil in three differeni doses along with recommended dose ofNPK fertilizers added in the form of urea, single super phosphate (SSP) and muriate of potash (MOP) respectively. Grain and straw yield and N, P and K uptake were recorded. The result showed that both grain and straw yields were significantly influenced by combined application of organic amendments with NPK fertilizers. Nutrient uptake in both grain and straw enhanced with combined application oforganic amendments and NPK fertilizers. The result indicated that among the treatment combinations, judicious addition of both organic (HA @ 0.5 gKg'1) and inorganic fertilizers were responsible for higher nutrient uptake and better yield respectively. Grain and straw yield per pot were found to be positively and significantly correlated with nutrient uptake. The result further envisaged that nitrogen is the most essential nutrient and key input for maximizing rice yield.
