Thirty-two varieties of pigeonpea were grown in RBD design for two consecutive years. Nine morphological characters were studied. Genotypic and phenotypic correlation coefficients were computed to identify important yield traits in two years. Pods perplant and 100-seed weight exhibited significant positive correlation coefficients with seed yield at phenotypic level consistently for two years. The genotypic correlation coefficients of these two characters with seed yield were highly positive. Apartfrom these two characters, days to flowering and days to maturity registered highly negative correlation coefficents with seed yield/plant at both phenotypic and genotypic level. Several significantly positive inter-correlation coefficients were also found. Suggestion has been made to construct selection index involving these characters for the improvement of seed yield.
