Compute engines for lattice QCD with commodity processors

摘要

We explain the computing requirements of numerical simulations oflattice QCD and discuss the perspectives for providing the required compute powerthrough the development of dedicated machines. We describe the QPACE project,which is an example of an ongoing development based on a commodity processor,in this case the enhanced Cell B.E. (PowerXCell 8i), together with an optimized 3dtorus network implemented on an FPGA.
