We numerically describe the relationship between WDM transmission performance and chromatic dispersion in a transmission line. We consider two types of transmission line, one is composed with a dispersion compensation module and the other is made concatenating two different fibers with inverse dispersion characteristics each other. We show each transmission line has different chromatic dispersion region for improving WDM transmission performance. We also show that a hybrid transmission line has a potential against the variation in dispersion slope compensating characteristics. Moreover, we clarify the reality of the discussed transmission lines by calculating the dispersion characteristics of a dispersion compensating fiber.
