To meet rising production needs, a specialty pharmaceutical company has employed a high-speed hermetic wrapping system, as part of a complete system, to help it meet stringent quality assurance needs for its healthcare products. Warner-Chilcott, a specialty pharmaceutical company making women's healthcare and dermatological products, was established in 1968 as a sales and marketing organisation focused on branded pharmaceutical products in the UK and Republic of Ireland. Its range of birth control pills undergo a complex packaging operation which sees blisters filled with pills, a number of which are then wrapped together with a patient information insert, a wallet holder and a desiccant. Some are sealed hermetically. As the company increased the process of hermetic sealing of blisters, the existing wrappers could not cope with the increased production demands. As a result, the company asked Sigpack Systems to provide a system that would meet its stringent pharmaceutical quality assurance needs.
