A high speed and flexible inspection system has made use of a camera system to help provide foolproof checking of label integrity. It is no longer feasible for humans to inspect label position and quality on packing and filling lines today due to the high speed and repetitive nature of such applications. Standard machine vision systems can offer a degree of assistance to manufacturers in this respect. However, in many cases the amount of work involved in the set-up, and inflexibility when changing labels, often means that potential users consider the amount of effort needed to keep the system running is not commensurate with the productivity gained.
