摘要

The effectiveness of acoustic-emission technique (AE technique) in detecting incipient failure is wellknown. However, there is no application to engines by reason of their severe temperature andvibration conditions. We have developed a technique which can detect incipient abnormal wear ofbearing metals during engine durability test. This detection system consists of an ultrasonicmicrophone which detects acoustic emissions (AE) and a signal conditioning circuit. This paperdescribes an outline of the system and its application examples.
