Sea algae could be the next fuel source

SCIENTISTS from Scotland, Northern Ireland and the Irish Republic are investigating the prospects for producing biofuel from marine plant life, after being awarded ￡5m of support from the European Union. The BioMara tri-partite research project aims to demonstrate the feasibility and viability of locally producing mari-fuels from marine biomass derived from seaweed and plant sources (algae) as an alternative to agri-fuel production from land-based plants.
