Stimulation of cucumber hypocotyl elongation by dihydroconiferyl alcohol. Interactions between dihydroconiferyl alcohol and auxin or gibberellin

The effect of dihydroconiferyl alcohol (DCA) on elongation of cucumber hypocotyl segments was studied. DCA did not influence elongation when given alone, but synergistically enhanced IAA-induced elongation. The stimulating effect of DCA was conspicuous particularly when it was given together with suboptimal concentrations of IAA. DCA hardly influenced GA-induced elongation in the presence of 2sucrose.
