Reaction of trithiazyltrichloride with ruthenium (II) complexes, RuH2(PPh3)3, RuHBr(PPh3)3, RuHI(PPh3)3, Ru(CH3CN)2Br2(PPh3)2and Ru(CH3CN)2Cl2(AsPh3)2results in the formation of six-coordinated thionitrosyl complexes. Ru(NS)Cl2XL2(X = Cl, L = PPh3, AsPh3: X = Br, L = PPh3) and Ru(NS)ClBr2(PPh3)2. Ruthenium thionitrosyltrichloride, Ru(NS)Cl3, reacts with solvents L (L = aceto-nitrile triethylamine, acetone, benzaldehyde and dimethylformamide) to form thionitrosyl complexes of the type Ru(NS)Cl3L2. These complexes have been charactrised by elemental analyses, magnetic measurements, IR and electronic spectral studies.
