I am honoured and privileged to receive the prestigious GD Birla Gold Medal, and I am indebted to the Indian Institute of Metals for selecting me for this award considering my contributions in materials science and engineering particularly in the area of corrosion science and technology. While looking at the eminent and distinguished professionals who have received this award in the past it is a matter of great pride and joy for me that I am able to join the select band of distinguished metallurgists of the country.
