EPR spectra were used to follow the coordination of Cu(II) to amino functions supported on DVB-crosslinked polyacrylamides. The dependence of the extent of rigid divinylbenzene (DVB)-crosslinking on the incorporation of amino function, Cu(II) intake and the coordination geometry and the covalent character of the Cu-N bond was followed. The structure of the Cu(II) complex has a distorted tetragonal geometry and the covalency of the Cu-N bond varies with the extent of the rigid DVB-crosslinking in the polyacrylamide support.
