SMARTPHONE technology could make travel far easier for older and disabled people, but not enough is being done to promote its use, the IET says. Great progress has been made on improving the physical accessibility of UK transport systems, but despite the growing use of data to provide real-time transport information, few elderly and disabled people take advantage of the technology. According to a new report published by the IET and ITS UK, a forum for organisations working in intelligent transport systems (ITS), over 80 per cent of people over 60 say they would not use journey planning websites, apps or text messages providing travel information.
