Servos offer a precision solution

Servomotors are precise, powerful, compact and responsive. Watt for watt, they are more expensive than induction motors, but this is because they have been designed for use in precision applications. Typical uses for servos include high speed assembly, multiple axes synchronisation, robotics and packaging machinery. Servo motors use a high resolution feedback system to control the motor-shaft position down to less than one millionth of a revolution. A basic servo system will comprise a programmable position control module which gives either analogue or digital command signals to an amplifier which then applies power to the motor to execute the required programmed profile at the load.
