Fieldbus modules: revolutionising today's machines and plants

Productivity sky rocketed 40 years ago when the Programmable Logic Control (PLC) was born, enabling machines and robots to work much more rapidly than before. With this new productivity, parallel wiring of sensors and actuators to the controls was no longer time or costeffective and electrical engineers needed to find a quicker and more efficient way to control and communicate with devices in the field. This is when fieldbus modules were developed. Fieldbus modules standardised digital data transfer and transformed machines and plants by simplifying application and commissioning.
