In last month's issue we featured a preview of the forthcoming Southern Manufacturing & Electronics exhibition which will be taking place at FIVE, Farnborough, on 12th-13th February. Here, and on page 26, Automation magazine focusses on the show in greater detail and takes a look at who's exhibiting what. The sheer range of products, technologies and services on show at Southern Manufacturing & Electronics makes it an ideal location for automation engineers to discover solutions to a wide range of problems in one visit. The show is co-located with Southern Electronics and specialist precision engineering show, Auto-Aero. Three such closely related events under one roof means that it is possible for visitors to see an extraordinarily broad range of products and services in a remarkably short period of time. On the mechanical engineering side, there's everything from steel stockists to machinery manufacturers; in the Electronics section, you'll find everything from PCBs to PLCs; and in between you'll find just about everything else. The show is also an important event for subcontractors, with a plethora of disciplines represented from fabrication to wiring harness manufacturers. Of particular interest are the large number of smaller firms, such as plasma nitriding experts Eltro GB, offering highly specialised services that are rarely showcased at an exhibition.
