This article summarizes several technical studies reported in theliterature on catalytic conversion technology to control pollutiondue to automotive exhausts with specific focus on NO. reduction.While simple theoretical reactions are stated, the review conciselypresents the various techniques available with their specificationsand performances. Noble-metal converters, in spite of theirproven-technology advantage, are considered expensive whilezeolite-based catalysts are preferred today as increasingly moreresearch findings have made this technology more mature. Conclusionand recommendations on specific applications have been presented aswell.
