Indian Railways’ (IR) coal haulage increased a provisional 11 year on year in the 2022-23 Indian financial year, ended 31 March, to 727.98 mt (1.99 mt/d), from 653.01 mt (1.79 mt/d) in 2021-22, according to IR data. Volumes were 1 lower than IR’s target of 732.39 mt (2.00 mt/d) for 2022-23, though it had surpassed its target of 647 mt in 2021-22.
