I am not sure what planet I was on when I tried to repair my stove last month! When I went to fit the new collar and stove, I was absolutely convinced that I had ordered the right size collar. When it arrived, it clearly wasn't the right one. So, I ordered a new one and arranged to send the first one back. I hadn't sent it straight back because I thought I would wait until the job was finished before returning anything. Whilst I waited for the new collar, I occupied myself with various distractions. One of which was a rather nice walk down the Oxford Canal. I hadn't been back to Oxford for a couple of years, so it was a real treat to have the opportunity to head back to my old haunt off Rewley Road - the Swing Bridge. The Rewley Road Swing Bridge used to provide railways access over Sheepwash Channel, which is the stretch of water between the Thames, past Castle Mill Stream and the canal at Oxford. The swing bridge is no longer used, but even the 'new' adjacent railway bridge is very low and most people need to crouch low as they boat, or walk, under it.
