Unfolding the evolution of human cognition

? 2022 The AuthorsRecent findings spanning fields, from braincases in paleoneurobiology to in vivo measurements in cognitive neuroscience, provide insights into the evolution of cognition. Here, we integrate these findings and propose that studying small, evolutionarily new cortical structures has significant implications for identifying new links between neuroanatomical substrates and human-specific aspects of cognition.
