摘要

A novel simulation route included Arrhenius formula, mass conservation and Darcy's law has been established, which can predict gas-related defects of gray cast iron. The effect of casting and solidification process on the thermal history, burning loss and pressure profile of the sand core was evaluated. Results showed that the pressure in surface region of the sand core was increased gradually, the binder in the sand core reached the decomposition temperature and sand core became thinner. The formation of these defects are highly dependent on the decomposition behavior inside the solidification system.
