Contractor Sales - Y/Y Sales Grow MSD for Contractors in 1Q22; DIY Declines-20 The cumulative responses to the question of how contacts' sales thus far in 1Q22 compare d to the same time period last year show that sales growth slowed modestly in 1Q22 after strengthening last quarter for the industry. Specifically 52.3 of contractors experienced a higher level of sales y/y, 36.4 described their sales as "Flat", and the remaining 11.4 experienced a y/y sales decline in the period. These metrics produce a net increase (percent of contacts who experienced higher sales in the period minus the percent of contacts who experienced lower) of 40.9 in the quarter. On average, contractors saw sales growth of 4.6 in 1Q22. Those seeing growth cited favorable pricing, strong backlogs/bidding activity, strong end market demand, and typically cited a slight improvement in supply chain disruptions.
