The changing face of India's poultry industry

During the past three decades, India's poultry industry has made spectacular progress transforming itself from backyard farming into a dynamic and sophisticated agri-based industry. Certain key indicators of economic development. During these years,the industry has grown in size, quality and productivity. Annual production of eggs has risen at a phenomenal rate from 5,340 million eggs in 1994--an annual growth rate of about 16per cent. Growth in broiler output during this period has been much morerapid from 4m to 275m -- an annual increase of about 27 per cent.
