Durian

In recent years, there is an increasing demand for durian in the export market. It is called as "exotic tropical fruit" in North America and Europe where customers offer premium price. Presently, Malaysia produces over 250,000 tons fruits annually andexports more than 40,000 tons valued at US20 million dollar. Most of the durian are exported to Singapore, the Netherlands, and Brunei. Thailand, on the other hand, produces more than 700,000 tons fruits but exports only 48,903 tons annually due to high domestic demands. It exports durian to Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan, United States, and Europe.
