The COL9A1 gene is associated with longissimus dorsi muscle area in the pig

Significant associations of the COL9A1 gene with body length, depth and width have previously been reported in pigs. The locus maps near S0008 on SSC1, where QTL for longissimus dorsi muscle area (LMA) and backfat had been found. We performed association analyses of this gene with lean-meat production.
