Substrate for chemical fertilizer and pesticide usage in golf courses

Golf course environmentalists say, such facilities pose environmental and health problems. A 50-hectare golf course requires 40 tons of water a day and 10 times more chemical fertilizer than a rice field of the same size. Golf courses consume an average of 6,500 cubic meters of water daily and a lot of herbicides, fungicides, and pesticides to kill intended pests but only 0.1 per cent is actually used and the rest finds its way into the ground water and eventually pollute public water supply.
