Nutritionists are reevaluating the protein content of poultry feeds. One reason is economics.Commercial sources of synthetic lysine and methionine have been available for many years. Nutritionists incorporate synthetic amino acids into feed to better meet the bird's requirement for first-limiting amino acids and to create a better amino acid balance. Recently, synthetic threonine and tryptophan become commercially available.
