Trichantera Gigantea as partial replacement of commercial feeds for growing-finishing pigs

Feed costs constitutes 70 to 80% of the total cost of production in raising pigs caused by the dependence of local growers on imported protein source ingredients particularly soybean oil meal which increases the cost of commercially mixed feeds. Smallhold producers are the mostly affected sector since they are the ones who rely mostly on the market dictated price of commercial feeds. To lessen the burden on the part of smallhold producers, researches have been made to look for an alternative source of protein that will partially substitute protein in the diets of pigs.
